Graphology is the study of human behavior by how a person expresses themselves in the unconscious act of handwriting, drawing, doodling, printing, etc.  Because this ancient art does not have empirical data and studies, and is not regulated by collegiate degree or government, many other related fields of science look down on graphology.

At one time, graphology was improperly listed in the US government's Directory of Occupations Titles (DOT) as "Entertainment."  Through the tireless efforts of the late Rose Matousek, AAHA had them reclassify the profession of Graphology to its present category of "Miscellaneous Professional."

AAHA, under Rose's perseverance, was also instrumental in getting Graphology changed in the Library of Congress.  Handwriting Analysis has been reclassified from its former and the incorrect "occult" category, to its present and correct placement in the Dewey Decimal Classification System in three categories:
          155.282    Diagnostic Graphology
          363.2565  Documentary Evidence
658.3112  Selection of Personnel by Management

These changes were made in 1980.
